The artistic parquet must meet two basic conditions.
First, to have a sufficiently complex pattern – mosaic (geometric) or ornamental (curvilinear).
And secondly, several types of wood should be used for the parquet design (modular parquet, artistic rosette, border, composition and corner elements).
The main decorative elements from which the artistic parquet is formed are rosette, border, corner elements.
The rosette (medallion) is a multicolored artistic composition inscribed in a circle, sometimes in an oval, square, rhombus and other geometric shapes, with a drawing created from different types of wood. It is the most beautiful and bright element of the parquet floor that attracts attention. Traditionally, the rosette is placed in the central part of the room, being the organizing center of the entire composition. The rosette can become a nucleus around which the overall composition is formed. It can also play a corrective role in the complex shape of the room. The parquet rosette can repeat a motif from the ceiling ornaments, wrought iron details, carpet figures or another decorative element of the interior. The rosette can contain a family coat of arms, a company logo, the host’s initials, geometric, plant elements, animals or even an entire mythological plot.
The border (frieze) is one of the most common elements of parquet decoration. Its origin is from the pagan lines that delineated the space that surrounded man to protect him from evil forces. The magic circle in which prayers are recited is the original source of the curb. Its purpose is to form a comfortable living environment. Modern borders in artistic parquet are multifunctional elements of the interior composition. It can delineate the border of functional areas, surround columns, beds, a dining or billiard table. Most often, the border is placed around the perimeter of the room, repeating its shape. The border is combined with the other drawings and ornaments of the artistic parquet. Usually, in the corners when installing a border, corner ornaments are placed, which indicate and decorate additionally. The corner ornaments are in harmony with the elements of the overall composition – the border and the rosette.
Modular parquet is a modern option that offers many possibilities for building a different pattern. Most often, the parquet pattern is formed by repeating modules of the same type. These modules are pre-fabricated in production conditions with precision equipment, manual work and quality control. These individual parts are then glued together or assembled on the object to produce the final result. The modular parquet can be selected according to the manufacturer’s catalog or made according to the customer’s request.
Artistic parquet is enjoying a renaissance. This is due to a number of restoration works in buildings – monuments of culture. In addition, modern technologies that make the production of artistic parquet many times easier support its launch in modern sophisticated interiors.
