Natural parquet is also characterized by good wear resistance, which facilitates its maintenance, however, a careful approach to it is crucial.
Natural parquet creates unique warmth and coziness in every home. To keep it in perfect condition, proper maintenance is of great importance. According to experts, it is a myth that it is difficult – it can be very easy and effective. Of course, if certain simple rules are followed, the parquet can long-term preserve its unique appearance.

Since it is made from different types of wood, its look is always unique. Natural parquet is distinguished by a huge variety of textures and color shades. Even when it gets old, blackened or dented it does not need to be replaced. It only needs to be looped to return to its original form. What’s more – after such a procedure, its pattern changes and, in addition to freshness and shine, acquires an even more interesting appearance. This material is also distinguished by good wear resistance, which facilitates its maintenance, however, a careful approach to it is crucial.

The main guidelines for maintaining the perfect look of the natural parquet are the following:

1. Its daily cleaning consists of two procedures – “dry” and “wet”. In the first case, simply use a broom or a vacuum cleaner.
In the second method, a damp cloth or mop is used, but never wet. Any spilled liquid, including water, can leave stains on the parquet or damage the wood. Some parquets have extremely strong coatings, the pores of the wood are sealed and no liquids penetrate it and leave no traces. Stains are left when the pores of the wood are open and liquid seeps into it.
The use of a dry microfiber cloth gives good results. Its magnetic properties allow precise and gentle removal of dust and dirt from the surface of the parquet.

Lacquered parquet mainly uses preparations intended for this coating. Customers most often get them from the sites from which they also bought the parquet. Under no circumstances should items whose specification of use is for another type of flooring be applied. Strong dirt is removed using a mop and preparations intended only for parquet floors.

2. Mandatory at least 10 days after installation and varnishing, no cleaning agents should be used, experts recommend. This requirement does not apply to parquets that arrive with finished factory finishes and are not oiled/varnished on site.

3. The optimal maintenance of the parquet provides for its periodic cycling depending on its condition. The high-quality natural parquet has strong and durable coatings. If the basic rules for cleaning and operation are observed, it will not need renovation for a long period of time. The period at which cycling is required depends on the condition of the flooring and the discretion of the home owners. It is best to contact a specialized company that will professionally cycle and varnish or oil your parquet.

4. In order to preserve the perfect appearance of the flooring, it is good to periodically polish the parquet with a preferred preparation designed for this purpose. A wide range of such products are available in the market. They not only refresh the wood and improve its appearance, but also create protection.
Generally, quality cleaning agents contain such ingredients and no additional polishing with another agent is necessary.

A product that contains various oils and waxes is a good choice because it has a light smell and does not irritate the skin.
Depending on the occupancy of the premises, this procedure is carried out in a different period. In residential premises, polishing can be applied every 12 months, but in public spaces it is recommended to do it at least every 6 months. It is important to allow the surface to dry for a minimum of 8 hours after polishing.

5. The maintenance of the natural parquet also implies certain parameters of the environment. The relative humidity of the air should be maintained between 45-65%, as lower values can cause the parquet to dry out and shrink.

In winter, especially in rooms such as the kitchen, where there are fumes, it is good to put a moisture trap to protect the parquet from moisture and movement. A mat can be placed in front of the sink to absorb splashes when using water.

6. Protecting the natural parquet from mechanical damage implies a number of preventive measures.
To prevent sand, dust and mud from being carried in from the outside, a quality doormat should be placed in front of the front door. This floor does not allow movement with high heels, as well as the fall of heavy and sharp objects.

If there is movable furniture such as desks, tables or chairs, it is good that their legs are protected with rebate pads to prevent any damage to the flooring. The use of office chairs with wheels implies the presence of a special pad located in a certain place.

If it is necessary to move heavy furniture or appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers) for repairs or extensive cleaning, it must be approached with extreme care. In order not to damage the parquet, it must be explicitly covered with a suitable material to avoid damage. A good option is the use of special sets that consist of a lifting lever and pads that are placed under the furniture. So they can be easily moved, preventing the appearance of scratches.

The maintenance of natural parquet quickly becomes a part of everyday life. Compliance with certain hygiene requirements and regular maintenance operations guarantee its long-term use. At the same time, they ensure the freshness and perfect look of the natural flooring, which brings coziness and warmth.
